Elder Abuse Prevention Network Huron-Perth (HP EAPN)

Mission Statement/Mandate

The Huron Perth Elder Abuse Prevention Network (HP EAPN) represents interprofessional and intersectoral partners who are dedicated to strengthening efforts that protect and support older adults at risk, families, and caregivers across Huron and Perth Counties. The network brings together diverse stakeholders to collaborate on shared priorities, explore opportunities for better service coordination, and implement a common framework for action. It also serves as a reference group for the Huron, Perth and Area Ontario Health Team, ensuring that initiatives focused on older adults are strategically aligned and contribute to a more integrated system of care.

Vision

In alignment with Elder Abuse Prevention Ontario, HP EAPN envisions communities in Huron and Perth Counties where ALL older adults are free from ageism and abuse, where human rights are advanced, protected and respected.

Mission

The mission of the HP EAPN is to advance elder abuse prevention strategies and build local capacity to respond to elder abuse in all its forms by acting on the following priorities:

  1. Public Education, Advocacy and Awareness
Promote awareness about elder abuse and provide information on how to access services.
  2. Practice Development for Front-Line Staff
Offer specialized training to staff from various sectors who work directly with older adults to enhance their knowledge, skills and capability to recognize and respond to elder abuse.
  3. Community Services Coordination and Collaborative Practice
Strengthen our local communities by building partnerships, promoting information sharing and integrating efforts to prevent and combat elder abuse
