Initiating a Dialogue on Dementia and Elder Abuse Project (IDDEA)

Project Timeline: March 2021- March 2022

Overview

The overarching goal of the project, Initiating a Dialogue on Dementia and Elder Abuse Project (IDDEA), is to educate community older adults about elder abuse and neglect, particularly among those living with dementia, delivered by trained older adults and peers under the auspices of the National Initiative for the Care of the Elderly (NICE).

The objectives of this project are:

      • Awareness – Raise awareness about elder mistreatment among people living with dementia
      • Knowledge– Provide most up-to-date information and resources to those who need it the most
      • Research – Gather data on the effectiveness of the workshops for future policy implications – we hope to achieve this through the pre- and post-survey you have all received.
      • Empowerment – Support self-advocacy and community members to speak up
