It’s Tax Time: Be Aware of Tax Scams
As Canadians prepare to file their taxes this year, scammers are already devising schemes! Scammers may pose as Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), Service Canada agents or other authority figures to try to steal your personal information, identity or money.
EAPO in collaboration with CNPEA, invited Stephane Senecal, Senior Support Unit Coordinator from the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre to inform Canadians on how to protect themselves from tax scams.
This webinar provided information on how to recognize types of tax schemes, how they work, and their consequences. Details and examples of some of the latest tax-related scams and tips to protect yourself against scams and frauds were presented as well as how to report a scam, or suspicious activity to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
