Risk Assessment of Older Adults: Practical Tools for Early Detection and Intervention of Elder Abuse
Session: Engagement and Disclosure Issues for Victims of Elder Abuse
The vast majority of elder abuse victims living in the community remain hidden and endure their mistreatment without formal supports. Victims of elder abuse are generally reluctant, not eager to engage with formal supports and, in particular, are confronted with various challenges in the process of victimization disclosure. This presentation will focus on issues to consider when involved in the processes of engagement and disclosure with victims of elder abuse.
