Safe Havens: Emergency Shelter Solutions for Older Canadians
The panel discussion provides a snapshot of what safe housing models are available across the country for older persons. The discussion included the arising challenges (funding, healthcare needs, growing demographics of older adults in need of shelter space) and the shifting shelter models to adapt to the needs of the community. Speakers also addressed changing the culture of ageism to support prevention, and the need for culturally sensitive services .
