Rights Don’t Get Old: Let’s Spark Social Change
Elder Abuse Prevention Ontario in partnership with the Canadian Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse (CNPEA), CanAge and British Columbia Community Response Networks (BCCRN) held a National Virtual WEAAD Event”, Rights Don’t Get Old: Let’s Spark Social Change” on June 15th for a national conversation around elder abuse prevention.
This National WEAAD event is brought together a panel of experts, political figures, advocates and concerned people to engage in an inspiring discussion about how we, as a country, can end elder abuse and protect the rights of older people.

Constitué de 56 mesures portées par 12 ministères et organismes, ce troisième plan d’action gouvernemental est le fruit d’une collaboration entre le secteur de la recherche, les intervenants du terrain ainsi que les ministères et organismes gouvernementaux pour mettre sur pied une multitude d’actions visant à prévenir la maltraitance envers les personnes aînées. Un objectif important est d’améliorer la gestion des situations de maltraitance. Une attention particulière est accordée au développement des connaissances et des pratiques bientraitantes.

Le Centre de recherche et d’expertise en gérontologie sociale (CREGÉS) réunit des chercheurs, praticiens-chercheurs, étudiants, et collaborateurs des milieux de pratique autour d’une même mission : améliorer les services et les pratiques professionnelles auprès des personnes âgées. Cette mission repose sur le développement de la recherche sociale, l’élaboration, l’expérimentation et la validation de pratiques de pointe, l’évaluation des technologies et des modes d’intervention en santé et services sociaux (ÉTMISSS), ainsi que des activités d’enseignement et de transfert des connaissances.
