HOW TO CELEBRATE IG DAY

As we come out of COVID times, two things are still clear:

  1. Older adults and youth/children need one another more than ever.
  2. We must be creative with virtual, or other safe ways to connect.

GET YOUR THINKING CAPS ON! Cards sent with prescription and food deliveries, on-line sharing of songs and games, window visits with painted hand prints on the glass, drive-by parades, musical presentations on the lawn or on ZOOM, sharing through Facebook pages, sharing of drawings, phone calls, short You Tube skits, youth built birdhouses or fundraising to buy and place bird feeders outside of the windows of seniors (promise upkeep as well!)… YOU CAN DO THIS. If ‘eye’ to ‘eye’ is safe, action starts with you!

Canadians have been so creative throughout 2022. Now let’s keep it going.

Celebrate all IG connections June 1st, 2023. Make it a day to remember in our hearts and souls forever, a day that lasts all year long.

Many amazing individuals, groups, and government officials are celebrating Intergenerational Day by holding events on June 1st. Here’s the list of participants for 2022: 2021 Activities.

NATIONAL QUILT PROJECT

Hey Canada, what do Intergenerational friendships mean to you?

Each year on June 1, we promote Intergenerational Day – a celebration of the mutual benefits of building relationships across generations.

2020 marked the 10th Anniversary of Intergenerational Day in Canada! We made a callout to Canadians of all generations to help us built a virtual national quilt of intergenerational relationships.

Have a look at the quilt here: https://prezi.com/view/lnaGxDMNDxu01eFdHTCV/

Now more than ever, we need ways to connect. We need to celebrate. Just because we can’t be together, doesn’t mean we can’t be connected.
